Our longtime experience in management showed, that there is no guaratee to be successful, but most is won if you can learn from your experiences for future live.

Let take some deeper insight: Analyzing not only the bigger Merges and Acquisition Deal we can learn a lot about key success factors. Often those activities finally fail, when they moved to fast in advance. Speed is not always a sign of effectiveness. With speed the probability grows of making mistakes. The severness of mistakes is not proportioinal to the speed. But the quality of decisions can only be improved, if looking very carfully to all relevant aspects of the deal.
We understand a successful deal a the consequence of setting clear targets and mathing them within an reasonable amount of time. This is of course a very demanding job. What ist the price of a company or a product or a market entry or simply said a customer. does time, timeframe and duration matter? Of course they matter! And people matter. Maybe the are much more important. We allways could see an incident of a fast merge, a fail in targets and a very low commitment of the people involved. Normally there are only a very few reasons to merge organizations. And allways there are lots of reasons why not to merge. Ask the people involced regardless they are employees, customers, investors or suppliers. Merging is time consuming. Time which is no longer available to care for the different groups of stakeholders. The only reasons to acquire a company are: there is technology, which is able to enrich the productset, there are customers, which are not customers right now and at least there are people with exceptional management and delivery capabilities. In Minimum one of those factors must deliver an tremendous gain. But: if it is only customer access another factor has to be fullfilled too. Otherwise you will loose with the merge.
Upfront in all three target areas there have to be clear picture what to achieve. And you have to know, where the own company stands today. Make the homework otherwise you will have a resit: Finally the homework has to be done, otherwise you will fail. Only if there are clear key successfactors in all those areas of importants it is possible to focus on the right and important people.
